Spoonflower Fat Quarter Meets Roostery Tea Towel

Spoonflower Fat Quarter Meets Roostery Tea Towel

Spoonflower has a long standing, yearly tradition of hosting Fat Quarter Tea Towel design contests. As Spoonflower’s newest sister brand, we are excited to finally offer all of these lovely designs on finished tea towels. We developed the Special Edition Spoonflower Tea Towel so all of the beautiful Spoonflower designs can be purchased on ready-made hemmed tea towels–no sewing required.

WHY A SPECIAL EDITION TEA TOWEL?
If you have been on the Roostery site, you know that we take the designs on Spoonflower and create previews of the finished product you would be purchasing on our site. Our previews are based on a design running vertically when printed.

If you input a fat quarter tea towel design (where the design generally runs horizontally) on our standard Orpington Tea Towel, the results are less than ideal. In order to support fat quarter designs we created the Special Edition Spoonflower Tea Towel. The preview for this product (sold as a single tea towel for $17) rotates the design so it is oriented correctly on the finished product.

MAKING A FAT QUARTER DESIGN THAT WORKS ON ROOSTERY
In order to ensure the entirety of your design is captured in a finished tea towel, we’ve created a guideline that can be followed to ensure great previews and finished tea towels.

A Linen-Cotton Fat Quarter on Spoonflower measures 18’’ x 27’’. A finished Roostery tea towel measures 16’’ x 24’’. Following the guidelines below will ensure that your design looks beautiful as both an unfinished Fat Quarter as well as a finished tea towel.

QUICK TIPS:

  • Orient your design so that the top of the design is the left edge of the design file
  • Let the background color or pattern extend all the way to the edges!
  • Keep any main content (like calendars) within the safe area to ensure it doesn’t get cut off or sewn over
